BULL MOUNTAIN
The story centers on a small town sheriff trying to distance himself from his family's criminal empire. In the forties and fifties, Clayton Burroughs' family ran moonshine over six state lines. In the sixties and seventies, they farmed the largest above-ground marijuana crop on the East Coast. By 2013, Clayton's home of Bull Mountain, Georgia, had become one of the largest suppliers of methamphetamine in the tri-state area.
When a federal agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms shows up in Clayton's office with a plan to shut down Bull Mountain, his agenda will pit brother against brother, test loyalties, and lead Clayton down a path to self-destruction. At its heart, BULL MOUNTAIN is a story about family, and the lengths a man will go to protect it, honor it, or, in some cases, destroy it.
Brian Panowich attended Georgia Southern University before taking a twenty-year detour to travel the country playing music. He started writing again in 2009 and has several stories available in print and online collections. Two of his stories, If I Ever Get Off This Mountain and Coming Down The Mountain, were nominated for a Spinetingler award in 2013. BULL MOUNTAIN is his first novel. (Sold at auction, for six figures, including a sequel, QUEEN OF THE MOUNTAIN, which will feature the sheriff's wife, Kay, in a leading role.)
