BOXER LA NUIT

Patrice Godin

TWO BROKEN PEOPLE MEET AND TAKE THE FIRST STEPS TO LIVING AND LOVING ONCE AGAIN.
Nick is a shattered man, a worn-out boxer struggling to forget the pain caused by the deaths of his wife and daughter. Haunted by his loss, he wan-ders from one arena to the next, always ready to put the gloves back on. Isabelle, the mother of two young children, is going through her own period of soul-searching. Her seemingly perfect life no longer suits her and she yearns for something more, something that she can't quite identify. When she discovers her husband's unfaithfulness, she flees to Maine to take stock of her life. On the beaches of Port Savage, Nick and Isabelle meet and begin the healing process.
It's not a striking or a blinding beauty. It's one that touches, that enfolds, glowing simply in the darkness of the bedroom. He looks at her, gazing at the fine, delicate purity of her features. This image has worked its way into his mind, and he likes it. It's come from his subconscious, he doesn't quite know why. An Indian princess. A radiant gem.

Patrice Godin caught the writing bug after participating in the short story collection Pourquoi cours-tu comme ça ? (Stanké, 2014), publishing the memoir Territoires inconnus (Unknown Territories) to great success in 2015. Night Boxing is his first novel.
