BIRDIE'S BEAUTY PARLOR

Birdie and Grandma are having a girls' day! They must have had fun because it's mid-afternoon and Grandma's tired. Birdie, a girl of great determination and many resources, has a solution: a makeover! It'll make Grandma feel completely rested and ready to play again. Birdie insists that Grandma lie down because this beauty parlor has many moving parts - chinny-chin-chin hair removal, face powder dumps, long stretches of blush, slashes of lipstick and eye shadow. Earrings, scarves, the works! Birdie knows best: she owns this beauty parlor!

Lee Merrill Byrd is the co-publisher of Cinco Puntos Press. Her previous books about her grandchildren, The Treasure on Gold Street and Juanito Counts to Ten, have received a Skipping Stones Honor, a Tejas Star Book Award, and various other distinctions.

Francisco Delgado was born in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua and received his MFA from the Yale School of Art. His paintings have been on book covers, national art exhibits, private collections and community institutions.
