BETWEEN THE DARK AND THE DAYLIGHT

Joan Chittister

From the beloved Benedictine nun, founder of Benetvision, and author of The Gift of Years comes a new inspirational guide for those trekking the messy terrain between joy and dark nights of the soul.
A part of the soul stirs at night, in the dark and soundless times of day, when our defenses are down and our daylight distractions no longer serve to protect us from ourselves. What we suppress in the light emerges clearly as questions about who we are and what we are doing in our lives. In her latest book, Sister Joan Chittister shines light on the inner confusions of our own age. Between the Dark and the Daylight offers simple, poignant, and practical meditations on how we can better understand God and ourselves when chaos surrounds us. Sister Joan regularly speaks and leads retreats, publishes a monthly devotional through her organization Benetvision, and writes a weekly column for the National Catholic Reporter. Her previous book, Following the Path, sold to Editorial Sal Terrae (Spain). Sister Joan Chittister is an internationally known author and lecturer, and the executive director of Benetvision, a resource and research center for contemporary spirituality. She is past president of the Conference of American Benedictine Prioresses and the Leadership Conference of Women Religious. Her other books include The Gift of Years, The Breath of the Soul, Uncommon Gratitude, and Following the Path. She is a member of the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, Pennsylvania.
