The book documents the people who have dedicated their lives to this work, investigate the challenges of human coexistence, and explore essential questions of human-nature relationships, including the effects of climate change, debates over land use, and whether wildness can ever truly be restored not just for the sake of the animals, but for the human cultures that share these same landscapes.
