AVIS DOLPHIN

Frieda Wishinsky

This is the story of Avis Dolphin who survives the sinking of the Lusitania, the ill-fated ship sunk by the Germans in 1915, just after the end of WW1. Avis leaves Canada to continue her schooling in England. Lonely, she is befriended by a kindly professor, whose stories of the magical island of Foula, give her strength during the worst of times.

Based on the lives of real people who survived the sinking of the Lusitiana (yes there really was a girl named Avis Dolphin), this part novel, part graphic novel will be published to coincide with the 100th Anniversary of the sinking of the Lusitiana. A wonderful memorial to those who lost their lives and to those who survived.
