ANDERS AND THE COMET

Gregory Mackay

An endearing story in cartoons about the adventures of Anders and his friends, which will delight fans of Peanuts and Tom Gates.
Meet Anders, Eden and their new friend, Bernie. It’s the school holidays, and there are comics to be made, games to be played, ice-cream to be eaten, cubbies to be built, and rhinos to impress at the water park. Then Anders and his friends meet the Green Grabber and things take on a whole new twist, leading Anders to a wonderful pet, Skip, and to wild adventures – and a dramatic rescue – in the sky. Anders and the Comet celebrates the everyday things kids get up to. Anders isn’t a superhero: he's an average little kid with a big imagination. He is not the fastest, or the bravest, or the toughest, but he is the most curious… Gregory Mackay is an accomplished artist and writer with a successful track record in the comic book world. His Francis Bear books (published by Milk Shadow, distributed by Mad Man) have a cult following in Australia and have been successfully published by Hoochie Coochie in France. Anders and the Comet is his first book for children. Book 2, Anders and the Volcano, is underway.

Anders is an engaging character, full of energy, sure to quickly attract fans. Recommended for early to mid-primary readers.

It is easy to see the potential for Anders as a valuable addition to the classroom library... I can just see student sketch books filled with little Anders and Bernies...

The combination of congenial friendships, playful worldbuilding... and fantasy-tinged action should easily win this quirky crew some fans.

My grandson is CRAZY about a new comic book/graphic story called Anders and the Comet. It’s simple and sweet and perfectly pitched for a just-turned-five year old.

A delightful graphic novel.

These stories make me wish I was a kid again.

Imaginative and entertaining.

French: Hoochie Coochie

A sweet, funny...graphic novel that champions friendship, creativity and imagination... perfect for comic fans or reluctant readers.
