AMALFI COAST RECIPES
Amanda Tabberer spent two decades living on the Amalfi Coast, and was made welcome at the tables and in the kitchens of passionate local cooks. Here she shares authentic Amalfi recipes that have been passed down through the generations.
The Amalfi Coast is one of the most popular destinations for travellers the world over. This idyllic strip of Italy's southern coastline is famous for its breathtaking movie-set scenery and its mouth-watering, full-flavoured food. Amanda Tabberer lived in Positano, on the Amalfi Coast, for 18 years, eating, cooking and living as the locals do. In this companion to her successful first book, My Amalfi Coast, Amanda presents the most delicious recipes for the food of the region. She has gathered more than 120 recipes from 26 contributors: some from professional chefs at top-class restaurants; others from housewives and even a hairdresser famous on the Coast for her 'flying squid and potato stew'. These are the seafood pastas, risottos and tortas that locals keep coming back to and presented as they eat them: chapters are divided into Antipasti, Contorni, Primi, Secondi and Dolci, with the personal stories of contributors sprinkled throughout. The inspiring photography was shot on location, in people's homes, trattorie and courtyards. It will have you poring over the specialties of the region, tasting the flavours of the sun and the sea, and demanding a trip to try the original. Amanda, daughter of Australian fashion icon Maggie Tabberer, forged her own career as a fashion writer, working in Milan for Conde Nast, before moving to Positano. Soon she established her own line of designer wear, which she continues to sell through various outlets in Italy. Amanda went to Italy for work and ended up falling in love with the Amalfi Coast, staying there for 18 years. She lived and worked with restaurant owners and producers. My Amalfi Coast was her first book.
