In 1981 Ghana, 18-year-old Charlotte is exposed to political ideas that are both exciting and dangerous.

For Charlotte, university life is better than she'd ever dreamed - the camaraderie of dorm living, parties, clubs and boyfriends. Most of all, Charlotte is exposed to new ideas, and in 1981 Ghana, this may be the most exciting - and most dangerous - adventure of all.

Soon Charlotte is drawn into the world of student politics. She's good at it, she's impassioned, and she's in love with a fellow student leader. When Ghana's government is overthrown, she takes up the slogan of student protest - "The struggle continues! Aluta! Aluta continua!" But her love of the
spotlight puts her in the public eye and, too late, she realizes that she has caught the attention of powerful and ruthless authorities.

A heartfelt story told with uncompromising honesty.

ADWOA BADOE is a Ghanaian-born physician, storyteller, educator, writer and African dance instructor. The CBC named her YA novel Between Sisters one of the five best books to give to a young woman today.
