ALL THE DEMONS ARE HERE

Jake Tapper

Bestselling author Jake Tapper's "absolute page-turner" (Gillian Flynn) transports readers to the 1970s underground world of cults, celebrities, tabloid journalism, serial killers, disco, and UFOs.
It's 1977. Ike and Lucy, the kids of Senator Charlie and Margaret Marder, are grown up - and in trouble.

US Marine Ike has gone AWOL after a military operation gone horribly wrong. Now he's off the grid, working on the pit crew of the moody stunt master Evel Knievel and hanging in the roughest dive bar in Montana. His sister Lucy has become the star reporter of a brand-new Washington, DC tabloid breaking stories about a serial killer and falling in with the wealthy, shady British family that owns the newspaper.

As they deal with the weirdness and menace of the time - celebrities, cults, the rise of tabloid journalism, the death of Elvis Presley, the Summer of Sam, and a time of national unease - Ike and Lucy soon realize that their worlds are not only full of compromises and bad choices, but danger. As their lives begin to spiral out of control, they also spiral towards one another. And the decisions they make could mean life and death not only for them - but also their beloved parents.

Jake Tapper has written two New York Times bestselling novels, The Hellfire Club and The Devil May Dance, as well as the bestselling nonfiction book The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor, which was turned into a critically acclaimed film in 2020. He is the lead DC anchor and chief Washington correspondent for CNN. A Dartmouth graduate and Philly native, he lives in Washington, DC, with his wife, daughter, and son.

Frank Sinatra, Robert Kennedy and Charlie Marder - you can't lose with this combination of characters in The Devil May Dance. Jake Tapper explores the thin lines between politics, pop culture and crime, and the story is always gripping, accurate and right on target when it comes to underlining that the past is prologue and politics are always played for keeps.

Sinatra is the most intriguing and fully developed of the book's famous characters, but Tapper deftly sketches all of them...deeply researched...rich in research, packed with pop culture and historical detail. The book is set six decades ago, but neither politics nor show business have changed as much as we might hope. Tapper connects the dots, but does it with a light hand that doesn't slow down the Marders' adventures.

Jake Tapper's ALL THE DEMONS ARE HERE is a brilliant and beautifully written book that had me from page one and never let me go. Tapper's novel is a deeply immersive experience, an expertly written thriller that places you in a fascinating period of American history with great characters you care about and want to spend time with. In ALL THE DEMONS ARE HERE Tapper has delivered another wickedly smart, emotional and gripping page-turning thriller after The Devil May Dance and The Hellfire Club. I will read whatever he writes.

A wickedly fun, adrenalin-fueled page-turner about Hollywood power and corruption. From page one, I was sold. Get ready to get lost in the suspense of this story.

Not to Miss!

Hugely entertaining

The gears of this thriller move expertly and fast.... The seriousness of this book never gets in the way of the breathless fun. Tapper obviously enjoyed sourcing it, writing it and using can-you-top-this gamesmanship from start to finish.... . Just when you think he's pulled the biggest rabbit out of his hat, he turns out to have been hiding something bigger.... He also makes Margaret a wonderful role model for the many people who will enjoy this buoyant book.

An action-packed thriller that places the reader right in the thick of one of the most culturally volatile times in the last century... Tapper has penned a page-turning storyline that keeps the heart racing long after the last chapter is finished. If you are looking for your summer read, this is it. The well-crafted thriller belongs under every umbrella at the beach, on every dock at the lake, or illuminated by a flashlight under your sleeping bag in a tent... The ending is stunning despite not having your traditional Bond ending with the hero standing with his latest conquest on a boat. Instead, it is meaningful, substantive, satisfying, and a read worthy of revisiting on a cold winter night. Read more...

One helluva a mystery - bursting with early-'60s luminarios from Bobby Kennedy to Frank Sinatra and his swinging gang. Tapper effortlessly blends a journalist's sharp eye with a storyteller's keen sense of suspense: The result is as bracing as the bourbon the book's Rat Packers knock back and as fizzy as the champagne the Hollywood stars swig. Raise a glass.

Jake Tapper's deep inside knowledge of power, greed and politics fuels this riveting page-turner. Warning: Don't start this book late at night unless you have no plans the next day.
