A SPELL FOR MIDWINTER'S HEART

Morgan Lockhart

A Novel

A holiday romance with a magical twist. It follows Rowana witch who has given up magicas she returns home for the winter holidays for the first time in years only to discover that the beloved town festival is under threat and, in order to save it, she will have to collaborate with her longtime rival.
Rowan Midwinter has sworn off magic. No more spells to focus, no more spells to clean, and certainly no more spells to manipulate minds. However, after fumbling a critical fundraiser for her nonprofit job, she escapes back to her hometown of Elk Ridge for her first Yule visit in years. There she finds neither the snowy landscape she's been missing nor the crowds of winter tourists it usually attracts, just her former coven needing her help with an urgent spell to fix the weather. Only the last time Rowan used magic was a disasterat least, as far as she knows, since she erased all her memories of that fateful night.

But if the town's cherished winter holiday festival fails to draw a crowd, its landlord will have no choice but to sell it to the Goshen Group, a megacorporation that cares more about its bottom line than the people behind the numbers. Torn between the fear of her fickle magic and the fear of letting down everyone she loves again, Rowan strikes out on her own to make a plan not dependent on the whims of magic. At least "on her own" was the plan except that she keeps running into Gavin McCreery, her former rival and prodigal son of the festival's landlord. In order to save her home and heal her heart, Rowan must reckon with her past and reconnect to the three things she has spent years running fromher magic, her town, and Gavin McCreery.

Combining the festival shenanigans and playful banter of Jen DeLuca's Goodreads Choice nominee, Well Met, and the cozy fantastical romance of Sangu Mandanna's bestselling The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, A SPELL FOR MIDWINTER'S HEART balances an enchanting romance with subplots showcasing the importance of nurturing community, healing generational trauma, and opening yourself up to help and forgivenesseven from unlikely sources.
