A POUND OF FLESH

Sophie Jackson

Kat Lane is left devastated after she witnesses the murder of her father. On the night of his death, she makes a promise that she will do something worthwhile with her life, help people. This is her pound of flesh.
Fifteen years later and still having dreams about the hooded stranger who saved her life from the men who killed her father, she begins work as a prison tutor. Her mother, Camilla Lane, who is terrified of losing her daughter, describes Kat’s choices as dangerous and selfish. As a prison tutor, Kat not only fights her demons of prejudice and hate, but meets a treacherously arrogant inmate who challenges her both physically and emotionally.

Originally published as a work of fan fiction on www.ff.net, A Pound of Flesh has gone on to become an online phenomenon and an award-winning internet sensation. It has won a host of awards and attracted a staggering 4 million online reads.

A tale of loyalty, love and redemption against the back drop of a seemingly impossible situation.

A story in which a prison tutor learns from her student that – more than anything else – it's not the label a person is given, but what's on the inside that counts. It is a story that simply connects with people and proves utterly addictive. To pay a debt she owes her father, Kat Lane starts a new job as a prison tutor. Wesley Carter, with his own pound of flesh to claim, is the punk ass inmate in her class. Can they fight the odds and their dangerous attraction to learn from each other?

Sophie Jackson has created characters and a romance that haunts you long after you put the book down; a collision of touching coming-of-age story, moral dilemmas, great plot twists, hot sex scenes and revenge, it will appeal to readers of New Adult fiction as well as those who believe in the redeeming power of love against all odds.

An intriguing tale of acceptance, and understanding, and finding love in unexpected circumstances. What sets it apart from others is the way Sophie Jackson weaves storylines to build suspense before everything ultimately comes together, leaving the reader guessing and gasping until the very end. Her words flow flawlessly with a poetic quality to them that makes it an easy read while carrying depth not found in other novels of the genre, and yet still managing to be downright steamy. I think my favorite aspect of the story is the underlying message that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. A person can make mistakes and be deemed "bad" by society, while still being the hero in somebody's story. It's a beautiful sentiment, and so very natural, something lacking in a genre overflowing with perfect billionaire alpha males.
