A PATRIOT'S HISTORY OF THE MODERN WORLD

Dave Dougherty Larry Schweikart

From America's Exceptional Ascent to the Atomic Bomb: 1898-1945

World history changed dramatically between the Spanish-American War in 1898 and the conclusion of World War II. In less than half a century, a relatively minor country became the dominant global superpower.
Much has been written about how that happened, but not from the conservative perspective that made A Patriot's History of the United States a number one New York Times bestseller and won the acclaim of Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and many others.

Now Schweikart and Dougherty offer the first of two volumes about America's unique role in the modern world. They provide fresh insights into its dramatic influence on world politics, military affairs, international culture, consumer tastes, and business practices. Along the way, they debunk the myth that America is a greedy, bigoted and oppressive country rather than a force for freedom and prosperity.

LARRY SCHWEIKART is a professor of history at the University of Dayton and coauthor of A Patriot's History of the United States and The Patriot's History Reader, among many other books. DAVE DOUGHERTY is the coauthor of The Patriot's History Reader among other books. A former professor, he currently works as a self-employed businessman.

As Larry Schweikart and Michael Allen proved in A Patriot's History of the United States, history is even more fascinating when authors have no ideological axe to grind. With this wonderful, provocative, challenging page-fanning ride through the modern world, Schweikart and co-author Dave Dougherty have done it again, informing us, entertaining us, and deliciously standing political correctness on its head-where it ought to be.
