A LOVE THAT WILL KILL YOU

Ali Imdad

Perfect for fans of THEY BOTH DIE AT THE END and YOU'VE REACHED SAM, this emotional and gripping YA debut novel follows Ayaas who must solve the mystery of his boyfriend's untimely death.
Ayaas fell head over heels for Felix pretty much as soon as he met him, despite disapproval from his family, and from three homophobic bullies at school. When Felix is killed in mysterious circumstances, Ayaas finds himself unable to move on from the tragedy of his death. And when the ghost of his boyfriend reappears in front of Ayaas at a spot only they knew, he worries that he is losing his grip on reality. Slowly, Ayaas realises why he can still see him: Felix's soul can't cross over until Ayaas finds out how he died. Ayaas must set off on a journey to discover the truth: no matter how close to home it is.

Ali Imdad was born in the heart of the Asian community of Birmingham and has remained there since; living with his mother, four siblings and violently adorable cat Pebbles. After studying Business and Marketing at University of Leicester, he shifted directions and fell in love with baking. He appeared on the Great British Bake Off in 2013 and then again in 2016 for the Great Christmas Bake Off. He just missed out on Star Baker that year and has been bitter ever since. Ali now owns and runs his own cafe and patisserie called Cocoa by Ali in Birmingham. He loves writing about food, religion, culture and the struggles of marginalised people growing up in an increasingly-polarised world.
