A DANGEROUS FICTION
Barbara Rogan's A DANGEROUS FICTION is introducing a literary agent cum detective who, with the help of a client (a former FBI profiler) and an old flame (now an NYPD detective), must save her agency and herself from the maniacal and murderous actions of a rejected writer.
Thirty-five-year-old Jo Donovan is a sought-after literary agent, with charm, a biting wit, editing prowess and a backbone of steel. She is the owner of Hamish and Donovan, one of the most respected literary agencies in New York City, and the recent widow of the renowned author (and former playboy) Hugo Donovan.
When a would-be client turns stalker, Jo is more angry than shaken until her agency falls prey to a vicious e-mail attack that only a consummate hacker or someone on the inside could have created. As her web of suspicion grows wider, she’s convinced by her client and friend, a former FBI profiler turned best-selling thriller writer, to go to the police. Jo finds herself face-to-face with a former lover, the handsome Tommy Cullen, now an NYPD detective.
As her stalker ups the ante to murder, Jo increasingly depends on Molly Hamish, her best friend and mentor, for advice and to fend off the malicious gossip that runs rampant. Meanwhile, a biography of Hugo Donovan is in the works and the author’s digging threatens to destroy the foundation of Jo’s carefully constructed life.
