A BOY NAMED QUEEN
Evelyn is both aghast and fascinated when a new boy comes to grade five and tells everyone his name is Queen. Queen wears shiny gym shorts and wants to organize a chess/environment club. His father plays weird loud music and has tattoos. Queen's life seems to be the complete opposite of Evelyn's, with her strict routine and even stricter mother.
Evelyn and Queen become friends, almost against Evelyn's better judgment. Why, she wonders, does he incite the class bullies by drawing so much attention to himself? Yet he is the most interesting person she has ever met. So when she receives an invitation to his birthday party, she knows she must go. And there her eyes are opened to a whole new world, and a few marvelous possibilities of her own.
