Recipes We Love to Cook

by Allen, EmilyAllen, Lyla

A colorful and engaging cookbook, written by teenage media stars The Kitchen Twins, with more than 75 accessible, fun, healthy, and delicious recipes for everyday cooking.

Lyla and Emily Allen may not be in high school yet, but they know their way around the kitchen. They've been cooking for years (at home and on The Rachael Ray Show), so they quickly put beginners at ease with friendly advice, confidence-building pep talks, full-color photography, and step-by-step directions. They also introduce kids to the basic tools a young chef needs, telling them how to stay safe in the kitchen and outlining techniques ranging from knife skills to ingredient swaps to how to photograph your food for social media or host a cooking party for friends. In short, there's something for everyone, from beginners to budding pros.

With more than 75 recipes to choose from--including entrees, sides, smoothies, snacks, and desserts--kids will have the chance to try dozens of new foods and master a wide range of cooking skills. As a bonus, virtually all of the recipes include vegetarian options and many have gluten-free or dairy-free options as well--so kids of all kinds will be delighted at the range of recipes that they can enjoy!

EMILY and LYLA ALLEN, known as The Kitchen Twins, got their first aprons and chef's hats when they turned four and they haven't stopped cooking since. Along the way, they discovered their love for creating fresh, natural recipes. At nine, the twins launched their own blog, Soon after that, they won first prize in a "Shark Tank" style competition at their school, attracting the attention of venture capital firm Edison Ventures. At age 11, they launched their first product, Make Your Own Kale Chips, now selling across the country at Whole Foods, ShopRite, and Acme markets.
