The Jew Jesus And The Misconceptions Of Christians
That Jesus was a Jew is self-evident for Christians today. But that was not always the case. Our view of Judaism is often dulled by ignorance and prejudices of the past. This book wants to build a bridge from the world of modern western Christianity to the world of Judaism at the time of Jesus. It is helpful to view Jesus not only through the glasses of our familiar Christian convictions but also through the glasses of his Jewish contemporaries. Guido Baltes has lived and worked in Jerusalem. From his experience and many discussions with Christians and Jews and his encounter with the land of the Bible, he offers new insights into well-known texts of the New Testament. He encourages that the encounter with Jesus does not lead to a dissociation from Judaism but to a closer connection to Jewish thinking and belief.
