The History of Chinese Ceramics

by Lili, Fang

The History of Chinese Ceramics is in fact a trading history of Chinese ceramics, and a history of expansion and spreading of Chinese ceramic-making technology and ceramic culture. Therefore we can know that China was not an isolated country even in ancient times, and its exchanges and communications were far more frequent than we have thought. Moreover, as a multiethnic nation, Chinese culture, as well as the development of Chinese ceramics, is characterized by diverse yet unified cultural interactions. For the ancient Chinese people, ceramics are not only utensils in everyday life, but also utensils used in ceremonies, religious rituals, and in the lives of intellectuals.
