A MOVING ICON, RECENTLY PASSED – Muhammad Ali passed away June 3, 2016 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, and millions of people across the globe mourned the loss. The athlete who always insisted that “Boxing was just a means to introduce me to the world” transcended sport and became an icon for peace, humanitarian issues, Civil Rights, and Parkinson’s research. And he did it with flare, and while delivering some of the most memorable sound bites of all time.

200+ RARE AND NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN PHOTOS -- Over 200 photos will be used to give a look at the entirety of the man the world came to know and love. The estate has opened its archives and given Jeter Publishing access to thousands of rare and never-before-seen photos.

JETER’s UNFILTERED SERIES – The Ali estate feels that the solid reputation of baseball star Derek Jeter is a perfect fit for maintaining the integrity of the Ali name and bringing to the world an appropriate project like this. The success of the first in the Unfiltered series—Jeter Unfiltered (HC, Oct 2014, 121,000 net)—set the stage for this important work and familiarized the marketplace with the UNFILTERED brand.

LONNIE ALI & DEREK JETER – Muhammad Ali’s widow, Lonnie, is committed to making at least one joint publicity appearance with Derek Jeter himself to promote the book. She will also be involved in further promotional activities following on-sale.

THE MUHAMMAD ALI CENTER -- The Muhammad Ali Center is a multicultural center with an award-winning museum dedicated to the life of Muhammad Ali. Lonnie Ali is deeply involved in the Center’s activities and they will prove a great partner in supporting MUHAMMAD ALI UNFILTERED.

Muhammad Ali’s life and legacy are inspirational, impactful, universal and transformative; his global footprint is enormous.

Ali is one of a select few individuals to have transcended athleticism to become symbols of larger societyl issxes. The totality of Ali’s life and his core principles and made him one of the most beloved symbols of peace and wellbeing in the world.

Ali’s awareness of the needs of the developing world guided much of his good work. He served as a symbol of hope and a catalyst for constructive international dialogue, delivered sorely-needed medical supplies to an embargoed Cuba, provided more than 22 million meals to the world’s hungry, and helped secure the release of 15 U.S. hostages from Iraq during the first Gulf War. As testament to his work in developing nations, the United Nations named him a Messenger of Peace, and he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, as well as Amnesty International’s Lifetime Achievement Award. In September 2012, he was the recipient of the prestigious National Constitution Center
Liberty Medal.

Beyond Mr. Ali’s international efforts, he was equally devoted to helping charities at home. In addition to co-founding the Muhammad Ali Center with his wife Lonnie, Mr. Ali hosted the annual Celebrity Fight Night in Phoenix, was a founding member of Athletes for Hope, and contributed substantially to the awareness and research efforts of Parkinson’s disease.
