Impressions from China’s 1980s (Art and Design)
China's 1980s mark a significant turnaround; the chaos of the Cultural Revolution is being replaced by a policy of openness. Qian Yu's black and white photographs document this social change. With an eye for the uniqueness of the moment, with humor and empathy, Qian captures scenes and people on Beijing's streets, squares and parks in their newly found freedom and individuality.
